Kate Hudson Creates Sunglasses Collection ‘Inspired by Goldie Hawn’

2 min read

As far as celebrity mother-daughter duo’s go, Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn have to be at the top of the list. Both blonde bombshells, both Award Winning Actresses, both hippy chicks at heart, Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn are true A-Listers with plenty of style. Which is why we’re sure fashion lovers will be battling to snap up a pair of sunglasses from Kate’s new eye-wear range.

Speaking to WWD, Almost Famous star Kate is collaborating with Chrome Hearts to conceptualize a sunglasses collection inspired by her very own mum; and just in time for Summer! Kate said: “We wanted to expand our collections into something for every woman, whether it’s ethereal or modern. For our eyewear collection, it was important for me that the glasses have flair but are wearable and go with everything. I personally love eye-wear that I can pair with a work outfit and a casual outfit, and I’m hugely inspired by brands that combine fashion and practicality such as Oliver Peoples and Tom Ford Sunglasses.”

Kate Hudson made her acting debut in 2000 with her role as the starry eyed groupie of a rock band in Almost Famous before becoming the darling of young Hollywood royalty with rom-coms such as How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Fool’s Gold and a recent role on Glee. Her famous mother Goldie Hawn has since retired from the limelight but started out with a supporting role in a comedy show Good Morning, World in 1967, eventually winning an Academy Award for her part in Cactus Flower in 1969. However, most people will remember Goldie for her hilarious roles in Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club alongside fellow Hollywood heavy-weights Diane Keaton and Bette Midler. Not to mention THAT Playboy cover.

With a collection boasting eleven designs we can only assume Kate’s eyewear range will have a retro feel due to her laid back ’60s California style. Chrome Hearts co-owner Laurie Lynn Stark added: “Kate has that inherent style gene that’s totally effortless and can’t be learned. With eyewear, there is a very precise technical element to designing — it’s necessary in order to make them work. During the design process, Kate would point out the most subtle details.”

Expected to reach stores by Summer we can only wait with baited breath!
